ok so I applyed for like 4 different advanced diploma marketing courses at tafe and also a advanced diploma in building management if I didnt make it in the other ones :(

my question is if I make it into the course when does tafe start ?

I am thinking for going to bankstown or st geroge, which is better in terms of respectability? good students?

Also are the kids at tafe doing advanced diploma courses bad? my parents full went crazy at me saying most of the kids at tafe a deros and dont care about learning? is this true or are my parents just making up shit?

Also the main round of uni offers come out on the 18th of jan right, I got a uai of 62 and I may still make it into some uni courses but I heard tafe starts on the 20th of jan this is cutting it very very fine to make up my mind?

Also how hard is it to move from a advanced diploma course at tafe to a dagree of marketing at UWS parra liek what marks do I need, and if I join the uni do I have to start with like 2006,2007 hsc kids or what, I would not really care lol this would be cool ?

Please help me out kami....

Ok, first answer is that TAFE starts term 1 next year - some specific courses start a week or two later but you should get details about that sent to you in time. If you don't have the information you need by the time term 1 rocks around next year, then call the co-ordinator of the course at your campus.

There are a wide variety of kids at TAFE, there are also a wide variety of *adults* in TAFE classes who are not teens and are already supporting themselves. Therefore it is kind of melodramatic for your parents to cast type TAFE students like that. However...you will find most students are not as academic as many naively expect from a tertiary environment since many are there for hands on experience rather than philosophical debate. So basically try not to make anny rash judgements till you are actually there.

Regarding the offers and TAFE commencement...just drop out of TAFE and go to uni if you get an offer in the late or final rounds. It is cutting it a tad fine but its completely workable.

As far as getting into UWS, as long as you get the marks from your diploma then you're fine - and your Advanced Diploma is worth around a 1 - 1.5 years of credit toward a Bachelor so you'll start in your second year I believe...which means you'd be either keeping pace with this year's class if your course only lasts for a year or you'd be a semester behind.

As far as respectability of marketing courses, I can't quite say since its not exactly my focus but I can look it up if you're really desperate to know.

Hmm..I get the impression that Bankstown might have more specialisation in the area of Business and Marketing as opposed to the campus at Kogarah.

lol..I've just been doing everything at TAFE for the last 3 years, my year 10 - 12 and a little bit of stuff with languages and in order to get all the subjects that I wanted in the timetable I wanted I started researching every scrap on TAFE I could find that was at all relevant to me, and luckily a lot of that info is applicable to the things people ask about on here.

I enrol at Tafe on 31st Jan, so i presume Tafe either starts that week, or the week after.

For some its embedded in the program ie you progress through Diploma level and just keep going, whereas others you finish the Diploma first and then apply for the Advanced level.
