anyone doing bachelor of economic and social science at syd uni that can tell me approx how many hours of uni a week there is for the course? (for lectures and tutorials altogether)...cuz i heard that commerce at unsw requires only 12 hours a week...

yeah most economics and commerce courses are only 12 hours. that is provided you don't pick any electives from engineering or the science faculty.
