Particularly commerce/seng.

Since it's a double degree, can I still do a double major, will there be enough time in the schedule to do it?

Also, for international exchange, the guy at the lecture today said to only do one course because most other uni's don't have double degrees, so what if I take two sessions off and do one session of each part of the degree ie. one session of commerce and one session of seng.

Lastly, how much more work it is that just a single degree? Is it hard to still obtain a distinction average, the guy at business(commerce/economics) said that only the top 5% get offered to do honours.

i asked about double degree and double major
normally people would just do a single major, but you can do a double major. basically you can fit anything in as long as you convince them you can do it

Not sure if you can do double degree/doble major ...

Yes, you could sculpt your degree this way (but you would have to be careful with pre-requisits)

D average IS hard, but attainable if you work hard ...

Hmm, I looked at the Commerce/Arts course, and it said you can still do a double major, i'm just wondering why the lecturer told skunk that you cant do a double major with eng/comm.

an engg/comm double is much much more demanding than an arts/comm or a sci/comm, hence u can do only one major.

Now I'm torn on doing commerce, commerce/arts and commerce/seng.

Will it be much of a loss doing just one major instead of two? The lecturer said that 70% of the UG do double majors in commerce.

I think there's a maximum amount of units per session (27) so you can't overload THAT much ;)

fees are not based on the degree u do, but rather the subjects u do. doing a double only means u pay the same/similar hecs for one yr more, not double the hecs every yr ....

NO. What they do is they take all your subjects (eg in arts/law you might have 6 subjects) and they look at how many fit into the different bands. In the arts/law with 6 subjects, first year will have 4 law and 2 arts subjects, so they calculate your HECS to be 4/6 band three (ie f*cking expensive) and 2/6 band one (ie arts = cheap). This way your degree actually costs LESS per year than a straight law degree, but you have an extra two years so it balances out.

Basically, HECS charges for degrees with subjects in different bands are calculated according to how much of your degree falls into the different band, and therefore as ONE whole degree (not two seperate ones). This way students don't end up selling their souls to go to uni.
