Yeah I was wondering about that! Are our final course marks included in our WAM all integers? Because I'm pretty sure that my raw mark overall for micro was a decimal w/ .5, so would they just round that into the nearest integer for the WAM?

pretty sure your final mark should be an integer so yeah it mustve got rounded up

Yes, all uploaded and reported marks are integers.

Ah cool thank you! Also wondering if you could help me figure out how the decimal place thing works? The first time I checked my WAM it ended in .5, the second time I checked it was .333 and currently it is at .75

If it ended in .5, 2 courses have been added (sum adds to an odd number and is divided by 2), Ending in .333 shows that 3 courses have been added and .75 shows that 4 courses have been added. Integrand has gone much more on detail regarding this topic.

Haha thanks! Though, I only got to see my marks post scaling - there is no way I got an 85 with no scaling in 2601!

8. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

does anyone know if any of INFS courses have been added yet?

9. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

friends are saying infs1602 is out

10. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

One of OS, COMP3411 or comp3311 is up, anyone know which it is?

I can't guarantee it is without scaling, but I am 95% sure that it wasn't scaled. Reason being my final grade was spot on as I predicted if the course wasn't scaled, my friends likewise did as expected without scaling. Furthermore, when your overall grade for a course has been uploaded on stream declaration it almost always is final.

That's dissappointing our quizzes and final were much harder than last year, yet last year the quizzes got scaled. Fml

Sounds like Robert Tumarkin wasn't in charge this year, the lad was the type who probably couldn't sleep if his students did poorly.

This so much ~~~~ the last few questions were hard as

16. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

Hey everyone! I am mathematically challenged, and have a question about the stream declaration thing. I only did three subjects this sem, and my stream dec was at .5 a few days ago. It has since jumped to .822, but I'm pretty sure that isn't accurate based on my shitty performance in the third course (and the final was on the second last day of exams so it would have been a really quick turnaround for my very slow lecturer/I think there may be double marking?)

Is it possible for all three to have been added with it ending in .822? I thought for 3 subjects it could only end in 0.33 or 0.66. Maybe the marks aren't finalised or something?

Well I emailed Peter after the exam and he said the difficulty of the two semesters has been normalised. He also added that the questions we got in the finals were probably harder than Sem 2. So props to those who still managed a HD though we did it in a harder sem.

What i heard was that if you take your wam and multiply by the number of subjects youve done you should get an integer ~ e.g. my wam ends in .636 and ive done 11 subjects (including this sem) if i multpliy .636 by 11 i get close to 7 which indicates all my subjects have been updated on stream declaration
hopefully someone can confirm is this is true

20. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

Pretty sure econ1102 is out is econ1202 out yet too?

Yes, that's how it works, since your WAM (assuming all your subjects are worth the same UOC) will be just the average of your marks, rounded to 3 decimal places, and since your marks for every subjects are integers, their sum is also an integer (which is the average * number of subjects).

For example, mine ends in .75 right now, and I've done a total of 13 courses, 4 of which were this semester. The only possible number of courses that have been entered are therefore 10, 11, 12 or 13.
10 * 0.75 = 7.5
11 * 0.75 = 8.25
12 * 0.75 = 9
13 * 0.75 = 9.75

Therefore 3 (12 - 9) of my courses from this semester have been added in to my WAM so far.

MTRN was emailed by the lecturer this morning

@KingOfActing Which of your COMP courses do you think has been added. Prog chals or ext algos?

24. ## Re: UNSW S1/18 Result Thread

OS just get added a few hours ago? Can anyone confirm? Was one out of 2 subjects for me, can't tell which

It's definitely prog chal, I don't think algos has been marked yet (still no mark for final)
