Does the average high school teacher simply copy and paste a few phrases or so on google and see if anything pops up when they are checking for plagiarism ? If not, explain plz

p.s This is not so I can get away with cheating or something, genuinely curious

1) google as you say
2) Put it through turnitin
3) Recognise from past student's work or they have seen it before while preparing resources for their own lesson
4) When you write significantly differently from how you have always written (i.e. average 5/20 to 18/20 student in one assessment task-would cause anomaly and alarm and further investigation).

I hear there are programs which teachers have where they input the essay and see if it is plagiarised or not, I'm just assuming it searches the web for matches etc.
