Can they actually kick you out even though you've got a month and a bit left? Pretty sure more than half of year 12 - including myself have 3 N awards and the Deputy Principal is threatening to go to the Board of Studies and apparently kicking us out???

Yes, they can expel you if they wanted as "unsatisfactory participation in learning" is a suitable justification for expulsion.
Also, you might not recieve an ATAR/HSC because you mightn't have finished enough units.

I don't think they can do that

The worst they could do in year 12 is simply not award you with a HSC which will affect entrance to uni? (from memory)

8.1. General principles

8.1.1 In serious circumstances of misbehaviour the principal may expel a
student of any age from their school. The principal may also expel a
student who is over 17 years of age for unsatisfactory participation in

NOTE:
8.1.3 In all cases where consideration is being given to expelling a student,
the gravity of the circumstances requires that particular emphasis be
given to procedural fairness.

ok but even if that is the case, do u think principals are really going to start expelling students from each school just coz they did shit in trials?

trials isn't the end of the hsc, it's the end of the internals (but some schools may make you do extra assessments afterwards) but there's the HSC external which makes up 50% of your total internal mark so u can't just say that just bc a student does bad in year 12 means they will do bad in the HSC (unless they are lazy)

Our school's policy is if you get 3 N-determination awards in ONE particular subject, you're unable to do the subject and as a result, ineligible to receive a HSC.

I'm just saying they CAN do it if they wanted, and since in this case OP had said "Deputy Principal is threatening to go to the Board of Studies", this means that he might get expelled.

usually you get an N-award for not attempting it at all, not for doing shit in something
