Hi,

I'm pretty sure this is actually quite a simple question, but I just don't know how to answer it:

"A function is defined by f(x)=x^2-4x+5. What are the coordinates of the point on y=f(x) which has a gradient of 2?"

Find the derivative and let it equal two- solve for x to get the x coordinate and then sub into f(x) to get the y co-ordinate. Make sense?

For y=f(x) has a gradient of 2, f'(x)=2


Therefore



EDIT: I am bad with LaTex so

f(x)=x^2-4x+5
f'(x)= 2x-4
2x-4=2
2x=6
x=3

EDIT: I am bad with LaTex so

f(x)=x^2-4x+5
f'(x)= 2x-4
2x-4=2
2x=6
x=3
Fixed. Don't have spaces in your code, use \\ for a new line. Also you should learn to align it.
