HSC marking - the constant in integration (1 Viewer)

the head teacher of our maths dept. said that in the HSC for simple indefinite integral questions, u dont lose any marks if your answer is without a constant (the + C)
is that true?

That's correct, because zero is also a constant. You'll notice that the +C is encased in parentheses in the marking guidelines.

Teachers often deduct marks for leaving it out though, and there are some questions where you need to calculate the constant after integrating (which you obviously won't be able to do if you leave it out), so it's good to remember anyway.

well, i have the benefit of having "+C" written all over my calculator and pencil case (muhehe)...and it's worked!
in the last assessment, didnt need to check
therefore its more like a reflex action now

I ALWAYS seem to forget the +C, even in my h/w too.
