To studying, say for example my internal marks/ranks aren't good and lie between average/bad
And say I get around 80 for legal
But in my internals it was always around 50-68, would my external mark go all the way down?
This is depressing and I don't know if I should bother if I'm going to get shit anyway :(

I'm not 100% sure, but I think external marks don't scale as much as internal tasks since everyone's doing the same test with what should be the same standard of marking. Can't confirm this completely though.

Is the 80 for legal an external mark?

You get two marks that are combined to give you you final HSC mark (each are weighted 50:50)

i) Internals (Moderated mark) based on your performance relative cohort
ii) External (HSC performance) Your mark based on your performance.

Given you still have 50% at least worth of your subject yet (HSC) exam their is no point giving up you can still make a significant contribution to your final ATAR.
