Yeah I got 480 as well, 486 - 3C2 * 2
I found it much harder than previous years, both my teachers agreed too and said that band 6 cutoff would be much lower this year so if anyone feels bad about how they went, dont be!
2017 HSC:: English Adv - Maths Ext 1 - Maths Ext 2 - Chemistry - Physics
2017 ATAR: 93.6 (screw English)
2018: UNSW BE ME Electrical Engineering
I do not intend to create any deliberate offence, but could those who say that this paper was harder than previous years please elaborate specifically which part of the paper they found hard?
My students and their teachers seem to agree that the paper still followed the trend of getting easier each year - although they are mostly very high achieving students so perhaps this is a biased perspective.
Good bye e4.
And I can't really pinpoint which part of the paper would've caused trouble for a typical band 6 student
All these ppl saying what they got for the last Q and hoping for 90+ raw mark...im sitting here knowing i got 2/15 for last question and hoping for a 70+ raw mark hahaha
Hoping the e4 cutoff is in the high 60s (I highly doubt it tho). Lost a few marks in the earlier Qs like 13 and 14. Oh well, i reckon il get a high e3 :P
hello
Do internal marks matter in calculating your final hsc mark? I hope so because I don’t think I did as well as I could’ve in this exam.
If so, how?
can someone explain the last question plz
i got 486
That was a really bad exam for me. Probably gonna get like 55-57 raw if I didn't make really bad silly mistakes. Will this get me 80 hsc?

anyone have the paper?
hello
Paper looked alright to me. Pretty uninspiring Q16 as per usual from the past few years
Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) @ USYD
It was pretty good, only skipped one q(no time for the volumes by cross section)
Q16 was alright compared to previous years, hoping for 85 raw
You probably got 486 by plugging values into the expression in the 2nd last part. However this gives the total number of ways under the assumption that not all colours have to be used.
To remove these cases, firstly note that it is impossible to use one colour to colour the grid, so we consider the cases with 2 colours. From 3 coliurs, we can choose 2 colours in 3c2 ways, and for each combination of 2 colours, there are two ways they can be used to colour the grid. So our final answer is 486-3c2*2 =480 as stated above
So let the three 3 colours be R, B and G,
R B R B
B R B R
and so on, while the R and B can switch spots => 2 ways
Since 3 colours must be painted at least once, we must find more cases like above
since this applies to any 2 colours, there are 3C2 ways to choose the colours
hence: total ways = 486 - 3C2 * 2
Rip arg(z/w) I did pi - tan^-1 (z/w) for some reason I turned retarded. Would I get 1/2

You had to minus the case with 2 colours
