Industrial Design VS Architecture

Hey guys. It's my first time posting a thread on the site !!

im currently in yr11 in SA
After yr 12, Im planning to go on to uni in NSW and study either architect or industrial design n_n
im local here but have no idea how applying to uni works...
so i have some concerns about going to uts..

1. Do i have to send any portfolio (designed, drawn thing) to apply to either archi, ind design?

2. What is the best uni that i can study archi or industrial in NSW?

3. when do i apply to university? (after yr12 examination? or before?) i.e UTS is the best!!!??!

sorry if these questions are silly.. but i really have no idea bout this thing.

As for the questions i can only answer for architecture-

1) Portfolios are only required for mature age entry, or if your ATAR falls within 5 points under the UAI. (Sydney University mainly)

2) It is hard to define a "best" school of architecture in NSW. Sydney has more facilities, but churns out a less desirable architect according to some employers. I advise you see the link i provided for that.

3) You apply to the UAC before November 1st listing all your course choices, some of which may have additional requirements that may even need to be investigated before November 1 deadline. You have a while after that to fiddler with them until the next deadline, and so on.

i think concering about uni in depth is quite early for me to do now as im not even yr 12 and HSC is nxt year
and i still have a year to think bout uni stuff lol
but the reply was really helpful hehe
