Is prelim sciences important for hsc?

Like I'm alright in chemistry and physics and biology but i want to know if you need to master these subjects in order to do well for HSC

It's sort of important in terms of I have seen that at my school in my cohort, those who were ranked top 5 in prelim are top 5 in HSC. Although, the content is quite different and doesn't use much of prelim I think prelim is a good indication of what your performance will be in HSC, but saying that there is still the opportunity to improve like my friend he was bottom 5 in bio out of like 50 students and is now top 10, but you would have to do a lot of work on improving because the subjects can be quite challenging but if you are willing to do a lot of practice questions and put in the effort you will do well in them.

What do you mean by 'master' the subjects-i.e. attaining a particular mark or knowing every single detail or some other standard?

Chemistry, you'll need quite a lot

Physics, I think you'll need quite some bit as well

Bio, I don't think anything carries over
