Hi all,

Can anyone help me with listing all the pracs that are supposed to be completed for each topic?

I honesty haven't been keeping up with the pracs and want to catch up.

Thanks.

The Chemical Earth:

1. - Separating the components of a mixture
- Estimating percentage composition of a mixture
2. Examining physical properties of elements
3. Modelling metals and ionic and covalent compounds
4. - Showing the thermal decomposition of a carbonate
- Observing light on silver halide salts
- Observing electrolysis of water
- Modelling boiling water and electrolysis of water
5. - Comparing properties of elements and compounds of these elements
- Using physical properties of substances to classify them

Metals:

2. Determining the metal activity series
4. Determining the empirical formula

Water:

1. - Calculating the density of water and ice
- Boiling point of water
2. Demonstrating surface tension and viscosity of water
3. Testing solubility in water
4. - Comparing the solubility of salts in water
- Constructing ionic equations for dissolution and precipitation
- Diluting and preparing solutions
5. Measuring the heat of solution

Energy:

2. Modelling the differences in atomic arrangement of diamond, graphite and fullerenes
3. Using fractional distillation of an ethanol-water mixture
4. - Measuring mass in combustion of wood
- Observing endothermic and exothermic reactions
- Combustion of a candle
5. Observing reaction rates

I got these straight out of the Excel Prelim Chem book, by looking at the Contents pages. They are all the pracs that are related to the syllabus, so they should be all you need. The numbers relate to the subsections of each module, in case that wasn't clear. Hope this helps! :)
