An ape uses a simplified typewriter with only the letters A, B and C on it. What is the probability in typing two letters the same?

I'm not sure with this one, I thought it would be 3!/2*2*2 though it's obviously not that. I'd rather not resort to trial and error so is there a specific way I was supposed to do to answer the question?
