I know it varies every year depending on the difficulty of the test, but what would you say is the average raw cut off to achieve a band 6?

No way... are you serious? 2u is heaps easy... it cant be 78%. I'm getting like 90%+ in them, does this mean I'll be a band 6?
This is the actual RAW mark for the test right? like 78/100.. omg

U need 90 and above as raw mark to get a band 6 in 2u :p
Realise is correct. You need ~78% raw (as in 2010), which is around 93-95/120, to get a Band 6 in 2 Unit maths. This will slightly vary year to year depending on the difficulty of the exam.

Could you please explain the difference between band 6 and E4? My tutor keeps on telling me to aim for a band 6, also what kind of multiple choice questions will there be ( Concepts or calculations)

THANKS HEAPS!!

N/A
E4 is an equivalent of Band 6, but for Extension subjects.

So for example, Chemistry has a Band 6, but not an E4.

Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics have E4 instead of Band 6, but Advanced Mathematics (2 unit) is Band 6.

The score (not necessarily raw) is still 90 for a Band 6 or E4, just the name is different.

As for MC, it will have both concept and calculations.

Here is a sample from the Board of Studies Website: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/maths-ext-1-2-support-assess-2012.pdf

This is the first year they're doing the new format, so it could be overly easy or too hard, which would affect the state averages and hence the cut-offs
