Hi,

For curve sketching how much information is generally needed about the curve. My school teacher said to do the following steps:
1. x and y intercepts
2. odd or even function
3. Domain and range
4. Vertical and Horizontal asymptotes.

Though another teacher says to just do the following:
1.intercepts
2. odd or even
3. asymptotes horizontal and vertical
4. Turning Points, dy/dx

Do you have different steps or information needed?
Do I need to find the turning points?

Thanks

Whatever is sufficient to inform you of what the shape of the curve is and where critical points are. Usually I would recommend finding x/y intercepts, odd/even, domain/range, asymptotes, and stationary points (inflection points as well if the question asks and/or the 2nd derivative isn't too hard to find).

odd or even is not really needed unless its a complicated curve..and its for your personal use to understand the curve
