    Last Question Probability

    Hi,
Does anyone have any tips for answering the last questions in the HSC Mathematics Extension 1 that are probability or combinatorics? Is there any general rule of thumb for how to figure out the method they use??

    Thanks

There is no rule... Thats why its the last question. Besides pretty sure it wont be probability or combs this year.

Well it depends. The probability you are given for the HSC is fairly easy if you understand what's going on. Just make sure you understand the definition of perms/combs and being familiar with manipulations of binomial theorem expansions.

I'm looking forward to when the syllabus introduces combinatoric arguments next year

    Like why is nC3=2C2+3C2+4C2+...+(n-1)C2 etc.
