In genral this is what you must revise

Researching prescribed artists and works

When researching a prescribed artist, consider the following areas:

The characteristics of a seminal artist

the artist's philosophical underpinnings
the artist's approach
communication of ideas
how the artist and his or her work redefined dance or choreography of the time
the artist's contribution to dance
writing and criticism

The characteristics of the artist's work

movement vocabulary
production techniques
dance form
qualities of the work.

Martha Graham:

I really suggest you check out this website - it gives major tips

Make sure you remember to study the 4 main key areas:

-The Chreographer
- The Audience
- History at the time of the composer/ first performance and issues relating to those times
- The world in genral, life in America... People and dance schools- gender issues relating to dance, the birth of the new modernist dancing era with the 'Martha Graham' style

and here is heaps on Martha:

-------------------------------------------------

Agnes De Mille (another good one to use Refrences and thematic, and dance related info)

having done the choreography for a number of Musicals- Agnes De mille was the founder of dancing - proper choreographed dancing in musicals
such as - Carousel
-Rodeo
- Oklehoma

Check out this adress too

Oh crikey- I don't have any of my old Alvin Ailey Notes for Revelations left...

Right, well from the top of my head:

- Make sure you look at the History and Life of the composer - Alvin Ailey,
you want to know breif background history on the move of the black americans from the south of America to the city, and how they found their feet in the dancing world .

- Good Idea to summarise each section of the dance..> research the relevance of the 'colours' used in the performance...
its a narrative collaboration of sections, - explain each section in deatil, practice writing out things for that... and umm.. sooo basically they are looking for a 'sophisticated' understanding of socio- cultural context and how it relates to the style and form of the dance, including the composers aspirations/ influences etc.

oh man, i really can't think of any more Revelations- but yes.. Good Luck! :D
