    UNSW Virtual Handbook
    Rule 2 - Disciplinary Minors

Students not completing the requirements of two majors in the Bachelor of Commerce degree must choose options so that they complete a 'disciplinary minor' in a discipline other than their major. A 'disciplinary minor' is defined as four approved session courses, or equivalent value for courses taught outside of the faculty, of which no more than 12 units of credit may be first year courses.

    ok...
well this all depends on ur major/s really
if u do a majors in accounting and finance, u can expect to work for accounting firms, investment banks, stockmarkets and such
if u do majors in marketing, u can expect to work in fields related to market research, promotion, business expansion
if u do majors in international business and business law, u can expect to find jobs as trade managers, global business consultants, negotiators etc
if u do a major in economics, u can basically work for any firm, bank etc as an economic analyst, forecaster, statistician etc
    so yeh etc etc etc
depends on ur major in the end

Do you choose your major after the first semester in B Com?
Or do you have to tell them straight away?

U have to tell them straight away, when u enrol
HOWEVER, since u do mostly core, compulsory subjects in 1st yr, ppl always change majors at the end of 1st yr - in that case, the two subjects u chose as electives in 1st yr become ur 'option' subjects (assuming these subjects dont count towards your new major)

    ok that sounded confusing..

    yup, what minai said!!
it gives you so many options when you finish uni..
you could become something as simple (pfft) as an accountant, (of course u gotta do the other requirements like the CPA and other crap) or you could work in a bank as a bank manager, you could just be a manager in general, open up your own business, be a financial advisor, marketer (which is what i want to do! ) etc etc.
    heaps of stuff

You only need to do CIS for CPA, not CA.
