Hey people,

The hsc is fast approaching and Ive just begun doing past hsc's and the last few questions seem rather difficult and Im only managing about 80-90/120, would anyone have any idea what sort range this would be in after aligning/scaling and what sort of mark approx. would land me close to an E4?

Also if you guys have any tips on how to best study in these last few weeks, that would be helpful.

Cheers

By the raw marks in 2004 58 - 62 / 84 (about 70%) in Ext 1 got you a E4. I think Ext 2 will be considerably lower then that. So maybe even around 60% will get you an E4.

Lol, thats ok i suppose if the 2009 exam or 2008 exam is relatively the same as 2004's MX2 HSC exam. I already know i can do most of the integration and the complex numbers in MX2 which is still crap but better than nothing.
What would a 20/120 for MX2 get? :p

I'd say at around 80/120 with slight variations across each year. Most of us would agree that the 2006 paper was the easiest Extension 2 paper ever and I felt I got about 90/120 which led to 94, so this estimate should be quite close for the E4 cut-off (considering the cut-off would be probably be lower for a more difficult exam).

omg you guys are all so freakin smart...i just seem to be hovering around the 70-75/120 mark and don't seem to be improving at all (all iv been doing is past papers...but its too late to go back to textbooks :( )...theres always little mistakes that just add up and then the last questions that just totally f*k me over!!!!...anyways my question was, what kind of raw marks am I looking at to get an E3 (cause E4 seems waaay out of my league now)

thanks

I think the raw mark to get an E4 will be between 60 and 65% considering that Ext 1s raw mark is 70% and Ext 2 is harder and still 35% of the people that do it get an E4.

Also i to have been hovering around the 80 mark in the trails although i am just starting to do them and study at all actually. Hoping to get 80% raw so 96 so i have a bit of improvement to go yet.
