Can you guys make a list of the geometric properties of simple shapes like rectangles, squares etc? I lack this knowledge lol.

My teacher said when proving a geometric property that we can use other geometric properties to prove this one. As in, to prove that the diagonals of a square are equal, we can use the property that the sides are equal. Is this true?

Yeh, you only need to know very few and the others you can derive by logic.

In this case yes because the definition of a square includes all sides being equal.

Also, a square has equal sides and that is part of its definition. Nothing can stop you from noting that.

Sounds good. I've got to go now but if you post some interesting problems I'll have a go when I get back :)

Also with reasoning in proofs and even in induction, different teachers have different ways they want you to set your solution out. It is best that you ask your teacher what reasoning you should put in. That way you are not likely to be penalised during an examination.
