Equate real parts:

x + 2y = 10. (1)

Equate imaginary parts:

x – 3y = 0. (2)

Solving simultaneously yields x = 6 and y = 2.

Another slightly different method is to multiply the original equation by (1-i) then equation only the imaginary parts yields:

and
equating the real part of the original part shows
