5 Apr 2009, 8:35 AM ![]() | Re: Blueprint of Life Tips Generally, if you're learning about the Blueprint of Life, in my opinion it is the longest topic and the most complex topic to learn, since there are linkages with physical phenotypes and genotypes, in which people have undertaken through each succession of generations. From that I mean that anything that is inherited in the first generation, may not be activated or provoked in the second generation, but the person may carry it as a heterozygous or homologous organism. Remember every bit of living matter on Earth, is made up of simple chemical compositions such as amino acids or proteins, and that we all contain DNA, if whether it is to be within a Eucaryotic Cell(Most organisms and homosapiens) or within a Procaryotic Cell(Viruses).

10 Jun 2009, 9:55 AM ![]() | Re: Blueprint of Life Tips My tip would be to learn to love the subject. Don't listen to other people when they groan and complain about the difficulties, it'll just make you think negatively about the subject/topic too. If you picked Bio, I'm assuming you had an interest in it. If you learn the stuff and think about it, it's actually really amazing. That's how I'm getting by in Blueprint of Life. |

17 Dec 2008, 3:20 PM ![]() | Re: Blueprint of Life Tips honestly its not too late to first of all start studying. ...so if ur one of those buggers delaying ur studiess.... START NOW!!! then u need to find out what type of learner u are ( visual, audit etc), then focus on that strength.....for me, i like reading a variety of different materials on the same topic, it gives a 360 view of that topic and helps me understand it completely. You have to also make your own notes at one stage before the HSC, the sooner the better. the thing wif making ur own notes is that its in ur own words, and by making the notes in the first place u have proven to yourself that u understand the topic. for Bio, and all the other sciences....Dont fken try to memorise. its bloody boring annoying and hard. and when it comes to the test and they place you in a slightly diffent position ur gonna screw up, cos u memores not understood. understanding, and not memorising is probably the best thing u can try to do. Lastly....Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Revise, Good Luck for HSC...i'm in the same shit with 2008 hsc students.

Study it so much that when you read a syllabus dotpoint you can rattle off the information effortlessly. Stick dot point lists on your toilet wall! On the fridge. My house was covered in post it notes before the bio exam. |

16 Jul 2009, 10:43 PM ![]() | Re: Blueprint of Life Tips The tip (obviously) is to realize there is no tip! Once you choose the subject, you basically sign in the contract to keep studying, revising it everyday as much as possible. The most effective way to study bio is to concentrate once and never! When you get the main point, seriously it's damn hard to get rid of it. Bio is somewhat everyday applicable science and that's why people to regard it as easy. They are right and wrong. I was and that's why I got 68/75 for the half-yearly which I supposed to get full-marks. Lots of strict markings and unpredictable. After any exam, you should re-read and remember everything you did wrong and try to avoid it. The chance for them to re-appear in your school exam is like 0 but very possibly in HSC.

13 Nov 2009, 9:49 PM Blog Entries: 1 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Blueprint of Life Tips I make notes. Then i type up practice questions on the comp, print them out and actually do them like a test. I suck at just skimming notes, they just go out of the other side of my head so making myself actually doing the questions help me remember key info so once im in the exam, ill be thinking "hey i already answered this question" or "this question is pretty much the question i did earlier" Hope that helps anyone |

Memorizing does help sometimes but, mostly make sure that you can understand it! This is how I got band 6. Oh and also, do success one hsc past papers Strangely I miss the hsc, especially the competition.

If you are given a question that is worth 3 or 4 marks you will need to go more indepth with this. Similar DNA sequences indicate a common origin, i.e. evolution. The more similar the DNA of two organisms, the more closely related they may be, as similar DNA means similar genes, which means similar proteins and therefore physiological function of the organism. This information is gained through a technique called DNA hybridisation, where DNA strands of two difference species are extracted, cut and fused. The greater the degree of base pairing between the strands, the more closely related the organisms are. Also, the greater the amount of energy, i.e. heat required to break them apart once more also indicates an evolutionary relationship. | |
