Epidemiology: the study of the incidence and spread of disease.

One named example, use stomach ulcers, or helicobactor pylori.

Just talked about; how it is spread- arthroscopes orignially and from contaminated food.
How it is stopped; Taking antibiotics along with an ant-acid.

Helicobacter pylori infects the stomach lining and the subsequent attack by stomach acid kills the remaining bugs, however, the ulcers remain and are further agitated by the stomach acid, which in turn stimulates more- a viscious cycle.
By taking antibiotics you kill any remaing bacterium and the ant-acid stops the stomach acid from further agitating the ulcers....hmmm just not sure how it does that...I'll have to research that myself.

Anyways, I hope this was helpful.:)

Epidemiology is the study of diseases that affect many people. It describes the patterns and cause of diseases in populations. The diseases studied include infectious diseases and those related to peoples' lifestyles and the environment.
Eg/ links have been found between diet and heart disease
smoking and lung cancer
(cause-and-affect relationships in disease)
