6 Nov 2007, 10:56 PM ![]() | Which elective? You can hide this advertisement by registering. Actually, I mean: how do you know which elective your class is going to do - is it just up to what the teacher thinks is best for you (or knows best!) or do you do a class vote? Has anyone done a different elective to their class or had a teacher teach 1 to half of the class and another to the other?I'm curious because I have a hunch that my class will end up doing biotechnology or communication... and I'm hoping for genetics. |

Today, 12:37 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Your teacher usually picks which elective the class will do, as they know what resources (for the experiments etc) are available at the school. Generall a teach will have a whole class doing the same topic. It doesn't really work to have half doing one topic and half doing another because of the amount of effort to teach twice and assessments-wise would be tremendously difficult. But biotechnology is still a very good topic. Communication is the worst. Genetics is one of the better one, and biochemistry if you are a chem person.

Today, 12:37 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You don't have to answer the communication questions at the HSC exam. You can answer one of the other electives that you have studied via tuition or that you have taught yourself. But you must do the assessments at school for communication.

6 Nov 2007, 10:56 PM ![]() | Hey, don't worry, I have a feeling our class will end up doing communication or biotechnology. Genetics just seems to make more sense to me, I realise it means competing against all the Ruse smart people, but unless there is a damn good reason why I shouldn't give it a go, I think I'd prefer to get a tutor and do genetics, if that's the only way I can do it. |
