I'm doing a chem prac on capillary action but I've forgotten how to describe the trend of the graph and its not in the textbook? like do I say it is inverse/exponential/proportional (and also which is which)??

$Using $y$ to denote the dependent variable (vertical axis) and $x$ to denote the independent variable (horizontal axis):$

$$\bullet$ Proportional relationship $y=kx$ for some non-zero constant $k$ (also written as $y\propto x$); the graph is a straight line through the origin;$

$$\bullet$ Inverse relationship: $y=\frac{k}{x}$, for some non-zero constant $k$ (the graph is a hyperbola); also can be written as $y\propto \frac{1}{x}$;$

$$\bullet$ Exponential relationship: $y=A\mathrm{e}^{kx}$, for some non-zero constants $A$ and $k$ (the graph is that of an exponential, of course); also can be written as $y\propto \mathrm{e}^{kx}$.$
