Okay so, I have my preliminary chemistry exam coming up soon and it requires writing about physical and chemical separations in a school laboratory. The only chemical separation is for copper (II) oxide and I've been thoroughly researching and discussing with some of my friends. We've been having arguments about how to decompose it. One of them suggested that we should be able to use thermal decomposition with a bunsen burner to separate the oxygen and copper inside a stoppered test tube. My other friend suggested that we can break it down using Hydrogen Peroxide. Another suggested to just burn the copper oxide directly. I think that the thermal decomposition is the best bet, but I'm not entirely sure about it. Do you guys have any ideas on what would work and what wouldn't? I'd appreciate some help.
