    Help with Density/Concentration Questions!

13.0mL of ethanol was dissolved in water and the solution
made to 100mL. The density of ethanol is 0.79 g/mL

Calculate the concentration of the solution in:

    a) g/100mL of solution

    b) g/L

    c) %(w/v)

    Thanks!

    Re: Help with Density/Concentration Questions!

    3.0mL of ethanol x 0.79 g/mL = 2.37 grams of ethanol.

The ethanol will be dissolved into the solution that's been made up to 100 mL.

    (a) 2.37 g / 100mL of solution

    (b) 2.37 g/ 100mL = 23.7 g / litre (divide answer (a) by 0.1)

    (c) Based on 100 ml of solution, (2.37 g / 100 mls) * 100 = 2.37 % (w/v)
