Just curious about what branches of physics everyone prefers out of Applied physics, Mathematical physics, Geophysics, Astrophysics, Quantum physics and Theoretical physics.

I like the best a mixture of Mathematical, Theoretical and Quantum physics. I like them most because they have such wired theories such as the theory of General Relativity, String theory and Blackholes but they are also magnificent, wonderful and beautiful theories.

Post what you think your favorite branch of physics is!

What they hell is mathematical physics? So there is non-mathematical physics? Most, if not all physics has maths in it.

Anyway, I prefer applied physics. Not much point having a subject that has no real basis.

The Web definition of Mathematical Physics is

"Mathematical physics is the scientific discipline concerned with the application of mathematics to problems in physics and the development of mathematical methods
suitable for such applications and for the formulation of physical theories"

Quantum Physics and Theoretical Physics

Having studied it for 3 years at uni, it is definately the most challenging and most mind numbing :)

Particularly interesting some stuff such as quantum entanglement
