Question for all those who have done their hsc and for those currently doing their hsc who can answer this......if in the exams of term 4 of yr 11/12 (first term of year 12) you dont get really good marks, by that i mean getting marks <90, in ur subjects, is hope for a uai of >90 lost?

no
get a good rank, you and your classmates do relatively well in the external exams, then a UAI of 90+ looks very achievable.
you could get an overall mark of 50% in a subject, but if youre coming first, then youre in control of what you get for your subject
so dont feel all hope is lost when you get a subject mark <90...just give it your best shot and let everything else fall into place

Simple answer No.

jemsta answered the question pretty well but just to add a lot of people with high UAI's last year didn't do so well in assessments/exams in term 4 (which is by the way year 12, year 11 lasts for 3 terms). So of course it is possible just need ranks and a good overall internal and external mark.
