can teachers/bos reduce your marks in exams/assignments if:

(1) you write in all lower-case
(2) you write in all upper-case
(3) your headings aren't centred?

has this ever happened to anyone before?

I can image they could for 1 and 2, but for 3 it might be a stretch. This is because 1 & 2 show that you don't understand grammar, e.g. capitals letters etc. If in doubt, check the marking guidelines, they are your bible.

haha yeah well @ our school they did for chem.

ESPECIALLY WITH CHEM.
god i was pissed off : YOU LOSE MARKS FOR NOT DOUBLE-SPACING IT .. DAMNIT ! ..
some teachers can be pretty anal about it , but yeah .. it IS possible.

What's this "it" you're referring to? o_O

I've lost marks in chem before for not using a pencil when drawing an experiment set up >.<;

I reckon 2 is kinda understandable, since an essay written all in upper case can make people's eyes bleed when they try to read it. 1 and 3 tho are kinda stupid IMO.

It's not very surprising, you know.
It should say something regarding pencils and diagrams, and pens and other questions on exam coversheets.
DW, I didn't score that well on the question anyway IIRC, and that was a long time ago, so I've learnt my lesson back then XD

Hey, would I lose marks if I wrote from right to left and sideways on every page with every second letter capitalised whilst ending every sentence with "screw you"??? Also, what if I didn't use any punctuation except lots of exclamation marks and didn't speel ne wurds rite att al?

1 & 2 yes
They might not have a particular section in the marking criteria for this in the respective subject (mine did for most though), but it makes it harder to read, and i suppose it makes the teacher quite negative when they are marking yours - not good.

AFAIK, this isn't Chinese, Japanese, or ... Arabic, so we don't write from right to left.
With alternating caps, you demonstrate yourself to be some 'tard; don't do it.
"screw you" will result in the examiner screwing you; savour the irony when you get screwed.
So basically, you've just listed what not to do.

Has the thread run its course?
Let's play the 'spot the troll' game. Can you see one in this thread? I can.

He's not really a troll, you know.
Technically, trolling is where you're trying to elicit a flame response.

But yeh, I guess you're right.
