That's right, the Office of the Board of Studies collected more than $22 000 from 2006 HSC students to check to see if they had entered their marks correctly.

Of course, that's not taking into account the expenses involved in such an operation.

Sources of Info: 2007 Board of Studies Annual Report, and Clerical Recheck brochure.

recheck per paper costs $12.80 (english is $25.50), so 12.80*1751=$22 412.8

how many people do you think got a new UAI from that?
I always thought that if there was an error they refunded the money... that's what it is with the UMAT...

In my personal opinion I don't think that you should be charged to have the Board's mistakes corrected. I think that the Board should provide you will all your marks, and thus allow you to check yourself for clerical errors.

But I can see why they don't, because not only would that mean that raw marks are available, but they would get every second student ring up complaining why they were only given 2 marks for this question instead of 3!

But hey, what can one person do?

Dude, they are a business.

Deal with it.
They are NOT a business!!! They are a government department! They are not there to make a profit! That said, they probably don't make a profit from clerical rechecks.
