# Thread: how many study hours a day?

1. ## how many study hours a day?

so how many hours do you study each day?
^yes, i've been told it's not about the number of hours rather it's the quality of the hours spent studying. quality > quantity

2. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

before year 12: about 2 hours a week
during year 12: 0 during non-exam periods, 2-6/day during exam periods

It is about the quality. But during year 12:

Term 4 of year 11 (start of yr 12) = Mainly homework + a bit of study for assessments
Term 1 = Mainly homework + cramming for half yearlies
Term 2 = Mainly homework + studying for assessments + cramming for trial 1

Now around 3 hours a day I'd say.

We get heaps of homework

4. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

On weekdays when we didn't have exams maybe like an hour and a half for 2-3/5 days (not including hw)

On weekends could be anywhere from 3-8 hours a day excluding hw

But during the exam periods practically all day apart from a few breaks in between and eating etc.

7. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

about 3 hours revising and studying, after finishing my hw
teachers are batshit crazy saying we need to sudy 5 hours a day which is bs

8. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

Like everyone says its quality>quantity

Also take burnout into account? are you the type of person who burns out from excessive study or not? Some people just have the motivation to keep on learning (and/or either enjoy it to the extent that it isn't considered work at all)

9. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

I usually study 1 hour max everyday if I only have homework, if I have upcoming assessment tasks due or exams, then I put in an extra hour for that.

10. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

I studied for 5-7 hours a weekday and 10+ during weekends during my HSC. It landed me a \$47K scholarship so i can't not recommend it.

Looking after yourself is very important of course. The most important thing is exercising diligence.

11. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

like 0 a day besides necessary hw by angry teachers. maybe 5-10 minutes of revision before exam or if the exam is in the afternoon then maybe 1hr+ studying

12. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

2-4 hours on weekdays

13. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

As much as you feel

14. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

i do 4-6 on weeknights and anywhere from 6-12 hours on weekends or free days - maybe once or twice a week ill just do 2-3

8 hours a day of studying???? Sounds like a great way to peak in high school tbh

19. ## Re: how many study hours a day?

Hmm also depends on what you define as 'study.'
Other than homework and assignments, there should also be a separate time to study (like doing past papers, making notes etc.)
So like 2hours and 50 minutes seems viable, in addition to homework and assignments.
But also reallllyyyy hard to manage coz procrastination takes half that time :/
