I wish the boardofstudies published these standard packages on the internet - not just samples!

Some of our teachers have showed them in class...it basically has a sample band 1/2 answer, band 3/4, and band 5/6 answer for LAST YEAR's HSC! But, OMG, it was quite funny looking at some of the Band 1/2 answers (No, I don't feel guilty laughing at them, because it was obvious these people didn't study).

Who else has seen them? I wish I could look at the CDs from all my subjects I do. The Band 5/6 ones are usually pretty interesting.

There was a thread on the Standards Packages before. The teachers aren't supposed to just give them to students but if you asked the right people I'm sure they'll let you 'borrow' it. :D

Nope.

Strictly, the teachers are only allowed to show students with OHPs or photocopies, and not supposed to copy the CDs, after all the Standards Packages are like any other piece of copyrighted software.

But....what the hell

I actually received an email about copyrighted trial exams the other day... which is why the ETA exams aren't online anymore. :p Most people don't care though.

Dear Mr King

It has come to my attention that your "Bored of Studies" website
contains commercial material under copyright to the NSW English
Teachers' Association. You need to know that the NSW English
Teachers' Association is an organisation which acts on behalf of its
members and,in that capacity, acts as a commercial enterprise to raise
money for member-related purposes. We do not supply material free of
charge to non-members.

Your use of this material is in breach of copyright.I am instructing
you to remove from the site within 24 hours all material which has as
its source the NSW English Teachers' Association - that includes
material which carries the ETA logo or material which was originally
sourced from ETA publications. If this is not done, the matter will
be immediately placed into the hands of the NSWETA solicitors.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Wayne Sawyer
President
NSW English Teachers' Association.

LOL! Yes - now that you've taken them off your web site, I am now going to go to them and pay them for their practice papers... PFFT!

I wonder what the "member-related" purposes are...

I think the maximum email size I can receive is 5mb, which probably won't work too well.

What I can do, however, is set up an FTP account which you can use to upload the files directly to the website server - interested?

FTP stands for 'file transfer protocol'. It's what we use to transfer files from our computer to the server that hosts the website. You would need to download an FTP program (such as CuteFTP or LeapFTP). We'd provide you with a username and password so that you could login to our server and access a specific folder, and you could then upload any files from your computer to the website server.

I can give you more detailed instructions if you're willing. :)
