Question public school or private school to do better in HSC?

You can hide this advertisement by registering.
when the rseults are compared between private and public schools they come up even in parts, what is the better option and reasons why you have selected?

personally i believe public because it gives you better communication skills and you arn't so under pressure the whole time, which gives you tiem to relax?

What leads you to think public schools give you better communication skills?
And I'm pretty sure selective schools would put far more pressure on students than private schools...

Come on gifted and talented kids, drop the books and start socialising! Great communication and problem-solving skills will get you the job, not the prestige of James Ruse!

private schools do better than most public non-selective, public selective do better than private schools.

Re: public school or private school to do better in HSC?

It goes.

Public-Selective Schools.
Private Schools.
Public Schools.

But it all comes down to the individual.

Personally i believe if we were pushed more, then our results would reflect such things.

MaTThew90

There are public schools that perform well, and public schools that perform poorly.

There are private schools that perform well, and private schools that perform poorly.

So of course, it varies. However, the notion that private schools are universally superior in academic performance lacks empirical support.

If you haven't noticed already, a majority of selective high schools kick butt at debating, public speaking and other extra curricular activities. Most kids there aren't even the typical "nerd" and are really social.

At selective schools, the students themselves create the pressure; they all want to be at the top.

That pressure translates to better results.

This is true, but there are still a large population of selective schools students whose sole focus in life is 'textbook' intellegence.

And these people are going to suffer if they don't foster some sense of social skills.

I'm also unconvinced that ability in debating and public speaking is a testement to good communication or social skills, as from experience, a lot of them just see these as opportunities to showcase their 'intelletualism', rather than to communicate.

I disagree with you on some points.

Yes these students do see it as an opportunity to show their own intellectualism, but it is a social activity.

If your're debating you are in front of a audience, you are also talking to fellow students.

Most of them will do very well when they leave highschool.

And social skills are not taught, they are learnt.
