I just want to make this new legislation clear.

MORE than 80 per cent of Australians don't know that electoral rolls close the day the election is called, despite a $12.5 million Federal Government advertising campaign about the new legislation.
And for emphasis, hypothetically if Howard were to call the election date today, the electoral roll will CLOSE today. So get your enrolment forms in. You can find some at your local post office or on the net here. (Thanks Octophobia)

This concerns many of you, who are more than likely new voters. There is, however, some leeway on "change of details" enrolments, but not first time voters.

UPDATE

John Howard called the election on Sunday yes, but new voters can still enrol by 8pm TONIGHT!!!

You will not have time to post your new enrolment (hence why I am at home, and not at work). Instead click the link for the form (above post) and email/fax it straight away to the Australian Electoral Commission!

To Scan & Email

send it to info@aec.gov.au

When emailing a form, please ensure the file size is kept to a minimum and under 1MB. To do so:

* Please scan in black and white
* Scan at a low resolution (scan at 72dpi)
* Produce the document as either a JPG or PDF file
* You may also use compression software such as WinZip to reduce the file size of the document

Or fax it to your Divisional Office. Find your particular Division's fax number here

http://www.aec.gov.au/About_AEC/Contact_the_AEC/Divisional_nsw.htm

If you're not really sure about your Division, find it here

or at the very least, fax it to this number: (02) 9212 7659

There are so many marginal seats, yes, your vote actually does count!
