Superannuation killed the pension. It's a necessity for the current elderly generation because they didn't know better and rightly assumed the state would always look after them. Self-funded retirement is the future and rightly so. No one has an excuse for not being able to save for retirement.

I agree with the disability pension being a jip. People should insure themselves, should cost around 2% of your salary to insure adequately, and you'll be looked after when you need it.

Also agree with Graney on the fact that this generation should have no reason for needing the aged/disability pension.

they refuse to invest their money/make sensible financial decisions because they might lose the pension

so they'd rather have $x from the pension than $2x but lose $x/5 pension, etc.

I've been there a few times since too... I think it's the broth. It's too rich and all their soups have the same make-up. Service @ Menya owns Ichi-ban though.
