its a shame american propaganda will tarnish his name and legacy and instead focus on the negatives
Salutations to the guy who made his country have the best health care and also have one of the highest literacy rates in the World. A lot of people never look at his positive attributes in him such as the love and closeness he held for his people and how much he has done for his country in spite of US embargos and sanctions for decades.
No street bears his name and there is not a single statue in his honour in Cuba. He never wanted any recognition or cult of personality based around him.
He survived at least 60 or so assasination atempts and 11 US presidencies in his lifetime, yet died at the good old age of 90.

Who gives a crap his a commie, his an exception. He was a good commie unlike all those others that have ever existed. He stayed true to his values and beliefs in the face of a neo-colonialist nation just miles away. He literally spat on their face despite their threats of invasion.
Yes he was no pacifist dude like Gandhi or Mandela but nonetheless their common anti-imperialist views and support for the oppressed brings them together. Revolutions are bloody and rarely neat affairs, people fight to maintain their side, where in one way or another everyone fights for their cause. Mistakes happen, infiltrators mess things up, and chaos happens beyond the control of anybody. He chose the poor masses over the upper middle class emigres and their foreign supporters. Others fought on the other side. That's how the world works. So where does that leave us? Practically speaking, which side should one support?
Btw turned out his sacrastic line he said apparently to a journalist as a joke came out to be true lol. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...a-urban-legend

Good Riddance, if anyone thought this man was a good person, they really need to look back at history... Yes, he did raise a middle finger to US imperialism, but fuck, it was a lot more messy than what it should have been...
Please don't influence people to like Communism, its only failed what ? 6-8 times , and killed upwards of eighty million ha.
I'm not going to go on an AnCap rant about Capitalism/Corporatism but Capitalism is pragmatic and sensible, Communism is the byproduct of a pauper and his optimistic philosophical thinking - that's all 'placid' Communism is, hope and fiction.
It has too many requirements to ever work and if those requirements are met, the question becomes how long could it last?

The picture of Castro is complex. I don't think any of us have enough information to judge him either one way or the other.
I hate how he adopted Communism after the Bay of Pigs invasion. Besides that think about it a country that once before was one giant casino and resort for American magnates with a lot of wealth and now a poor country previosuly reliant on Soviet aid with low crime rate, good health care and education for all and a strong cultural spirit. Under his rule a million Cubans went into exile and at the same time he killed a lot of opponents who were of course Batista allies after the revolution.
What is worse? hard...
The infant mortality rate in Cuba is lower than it is in the United States and is among the lowest in the world. With a life expectancy of 78 years, Cuba is one of the best performers on the American continent and in the Third World, achieving results similar to those of most developed nations.
This is to be praised.

Funny how the regressive left forgets that communist countries really really didn't like gays and put them to death.
being an oppressive dictator who actually oppresses gays is fine as long as you're brown and anti-american
why everyone gotta be hating on the gays these days man
