"Centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron has decisively won the French presidential election, defeating far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.

Mr Macron won by 66.06% to 33.94% to become, at 39, the country's youngest president.

Mr Macron will also become the first president from outside the two traditional main parties since the modern republic's foundation in 1958."

No surprise really, France has always voted centrist... Germany on the other hand... Well... :lol:

I'm looking more forward to the German elections in September...

Would absolutely be laughing my arse of if the National Front hold the balance of power after parliamentary elections next month in France...

EDIT: to add, I think that the National Front holding the balance of power might be a distinct possibility, given the following:
- Macron was marred in controversy that will most likely not go away and probably get worse;
- The low voter turnout for the Presidential race would certainly also be reflected in the Parliamentary race (most people who are against the so called far right rhetoric of Le Pen seem to be parading with a "we did it" attitude at the moment, certainly complacent to say the least)...

"Honesty compels me to say that I am not a socialist."-Macron

Proposed policy:

-Lower corporate tax
-Pro-EU and pro-free trade deals
-Recruit 10,000 additional police officers
-Increase prison capacity
-Increase defence budget
-Cut 120,000 public sector jobs
-Reduce mandatory social security payments

Very communist
