Hey,
Just wondering what everyone thought the HSC Economics Essay questions would be this year?

A start for predictive purposes may be to help share your trial extended response questions :)

Expecting a protectionism question considering the context of Trump presidency, China tensions etc. Maybe something related to wage growth for stimulus.

Hey Sorry,
My trial questions were on fiscal policy to help promote economic growth and full employment for the stimulus (I can't remember the other one).
While Q27 was on protectionism and Q28 was the effects of the exchange rate.

Actually that is good point. Markers do take into consideration "current events" but remember they set the paper around April each year when preparing.

Yeah my essay questions were on:
1. The usage of fiscal policy in achieving economic growth and external stability
2. The analysis of effects of changes in the value of the Australian dollar on the Australian economy (both were stimulus questions)
3. Methods of protectionism and the effects of these policies on the global economy
4. Role of microeconomic policies in reducing income inequality and achieving environmental sustainability

There probs will be a protectionism question based on what everybody is saying here/has experienced so you gotta TRUMP it up

You will not be able to predict the questions.

They have been told to be as unpredictable as possible and have heard personally from a writer that they have been told to forget everything they've asked before.

Everything and anything is on the table

P.S. - Exams were written at the beginning of the year - before the Trump saga

They were written in April. Exactly when the saga started.... And the questions will come from somewhere in the syllabus so they aren't unpredictable.

Here's a few of my top picks:

(1) Protection - because of what has happened with Trump
(2) Inequality/Fiscal hybrid - company taxation cuts, slow wages growth and growing inequality give rise to something like this.
(3) Environment - Trump leaving Paris Agreement would be a big one to get this kind of question.

Syllabus is a pretty big document

They don't always pick the obvious choices - The entire state is preparing for protection and trump
