HONOURS in Finance

Hey Guys,

I am new to this whole site and thought I'd pose a question that maybe someone may know the answer to I hope.

Firstly, I am a 4th yr UNSW student studying a double degree in commerce and economics with majors in actuarial studies, finance and economics. I am very passionate about finance and keen to do an honours year. However since UNSW has like only 10 spots avaliable I am sceptic about my chances and have considered doing a finance honours at USYD. I have never failed a course, although the actuarial major has definitely dragged my wam down to 73. I however have an average of 75.2 in my eco major and 78 in my finance major. Does anyone know what my chances are like? That is, highly likely, likely, unlikely, or maybe?

I will appreciate your thoughts on this guys as I need to start planning for next year.

Cheers

Re: HONOURS in Finance

Why do you want to do finance honours? Seems like a waste of time to me. Do something more quanty i.e. more useful.

You stand an ok chance.

Because it obviously means you have a passion for finance and did well in your undergraduate studies. What else would you propose? I was considering Master of financial mathematics but thats 1.5 years and probably alot more difficult.

Re: HONOURS in Finance

Skip the masters, honours looks and probably is better at this stage of your career.

Perhaps talk to some finance honours students this year?
