Mathematics student research projects @ Uni

Does anyone know of any undergraduate research projects that either UNSW and/or USyd offers to its science or advanced science or advanced mathematics students throughout their degree?

What sort of topics and themes do these usually involve and what's it like in general? And do you usually get to work in small groups or is everything individualised?

Most importantly, any collective feedback or opinions about these advanced courses/projects?

Cheers.

yeah there's the TSP which is for students who get 99 UAI or get some sort of equivalent mark in their second year of uni. I think it involves you working closely with the staff to research ur own topic or something and then you have to present that to your class and you get cred for it.

UNSW Maths has "vacation scholarships" for top 3rd and 2nd year students. It involves paid work for around 8 weeks over summer with staff members on a research topic. Applications this year close Oct 25 . Info at http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/news/20...ships0607.html
