missed previous classes on fermentation in general
need to know the steps to convert glucose to ethanol,
and where you would add the sodium bisulfate to increase the production of glycerol?

Re: HELP!production of glycerol via fermentation?

As for the fermentation of glucose to produce ethanol, a glucose solution is placed in a conical flask with a small amount of yeast added to the solution. Anaerobic conditions must be met and so parafilm may be used to prevent oxygen from coming into the solution. Place the apparatus in an incubator for several days under 30-35 degrees and so the yeast can grow as well as ensuring an optimal yield of ethanol. You can also connect a glass tube to the flask so that any CO2 produced can be passed through into a separate collection vessel (beaker containing limewater, CO2 produced from the reaction will produce bubbles and turn the limewater milky). You should also weigh the apparatus before and after, mass loss is CO2 produced from the fermentation reaction.

As for the glycerol I have no idea.
