is this all about say seperating an element from its ores... i cant remember exactly but i vaguely recall from prelim something about seperating aluminium from bauxite- first the bauxite is crushed to extract aluminium oxide and then electroylsis is used to seperate the pure Al. Is this the kind of stuff you want? I don't wanna go on too much about anything if it irrelevant....

Homework Help

This is a very staightforward project, once you get all the information together;

The two mixtures i teach in my year 11 class are;
  • Bauxite (Aluminium Ore)
  • Chalcopyrite (Copper Ore)

You will find all the information on bauxite at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauxite

I used this webpage to create the bauxite case study i teach in my year 11 programme.
Also you'll need to check out
http://www.comalco.com/freedom.aspx?pid=211 for Australia'n mining operation of bauxite.

As for Chalcopyrite (Copper Ore),
check out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalcopyrite

and i've attached some more information on this one.

for more help or any questions send me an email at george@chemistrycoach.com

Cheers
George
