The genocide of Rwanda.

There's even a movie about it, called "Hotel Rwanda".

back around the 1950's the chinese authorities were killing monks/buddhists as China wanted control over Tibet. for something as little as having a photo of the Dalai Lama or holding a sign saying 'free tibet' people were thrown into jail for decades where they suffered ill treatment.

'freedom of speech' would be one human right violated.

its really interesting you should look into it

we had a similar assignment last term, people did topics like cambodia, women in afghanistan, david hicks, child slavery, child soldiers. i did the treatment of afghan and iraqis in US custody. theres heaps of options out there, its just finding one that suits you. try searching sites like amnesty international.

Your teachers are supposed to give you exmples of all of the above before your assignements are due. Were doing an assessment for Human Rights instead of a speech, its crazy. Mine is tomorrow, I've been studing for hours.. haha.

A while ago there was a lot of media coverage regarding the demand of the release of children from Woomera Detention Centre, they claimed it was a breach of UNCROC and child's human rights.
