Not much.

You should know that common substances such as vinegar, lemon juice, stomach acid, and to a lesser extent milk and saliva are acidic; and that detergents, shampoo, soap, household cleaners, and even blood are basic.

That's it, really.

I defined the terms of an acid and base, wrote some properties of both of them and just identified some common acids. It should be in your textbook

one more question,

4NH3(g) + 5O2 --equilibrium arrow--> 4NO(g) + 6H2O(g) deltaH=-908

for teh above reaction, rpdecitc how the equilibrium will shift when pressure is increased.

^it kinda sounds wrong because don't they usually give you a specific reactant or product increasing in pressure?

btw how dou you define acid and base because aren't there like 5 different definitions?

When the total pressure is increased, the equilibrium will shift to the side that has less moles of gas.

If you look at the equation, on the left there are 4 moles of ammonia and 5 moles of oxygen gases, making 9 in total. On the right, there are 4 moles of nitrogen oxide and 6 moles of water vapour, making 10 in total.

Therefore there are less moles of gas on the left, and when the total pressure is increased, the equilibrium will shift to the left, producing more NH3 and O2.

For the first section of the Acidic Environment, you will learn that an acid is something that ionises to produce H3O+ ions in solution, while a base is a substance that either produces OH- ions in solution or reacts with an acid to produce salt and water.

However, later in the module you will learn that the most commonly used definition is: an acid is a proton (H+) donor, and a base is a proton acceptor.

Then the equilibrium won't be affected by the change in pressure.
