Need help with the following question...

Not sure how to approach this next question...I'm usually good at stoichiometry but this question has me stumped...

What volume of water would have to be added to 0.500L of 10.0M potassium hydroxide to make them 1.00M?

Please show me the steps needed to answer the question too.

Thanks

See that's what I thought at first, but my answer just didn't match the answer at the back of the book (which is 4.5L)

Re: Need help with the following question...

c1v1 = c2v2

0.5 x 10 = 1 x v2

v2 = 5L

You already have 0.5L, hence 4.5L needs to be added.
