Only BOS people knows how to work out aligned marks from raw marks. Basically they are a bunch of fake marks to fool you and make you think you did great but in reality you did pretty crap in the exam. Often this will be reflected in your scaled marks.

| Your friendly HSC guide | Actually there's a flaw in that diagram Survivor39 It's: Raw HSC mark ---> Aligned HSC mark Raw HSC mark ---> Scaled HSC mark The Board of studies does the aligning process. The UAC does the scaling process. And both use the raw HSC mark.

For this reason, the Technical Committee on Scaling provides some equivalencies between scaled marks and aligned marks, even though there is no explicit relationship between them. SAM utilises this data, because it is currently the only available data.
