Impressed circuit is used in cathodic protection, can anybody explain the chemistry of the impressed circuit to me please?

Re: Impressed circuit

impressed circuit? i would thought you just used a power supply/battery to pump electron to your protected site, making it cathode...

Re: Impressed circuit

Using a DC power source you make your more reactive metal the cathode when it would usually become the anode and corrode. You're just continually pumping electrons into it so it doesn't break down

If the current ceases then the metal becomes an anode to the seawater once again.
