Our electrophoresis practical worked fine last year... and it's really quite a fun one as well.

In terms of answering questions related to it... You should generally know exactly how to set up and perform one (which is where your practical comes in), so that you can answer questions based on applications of the method. Plus all the usuals... the scientific principles behind it etc. But the big thing about the electives is HOW the scientific nature of the experiments APPLIES to life, or in this case, forensics.
